Firstly, a short Alpha update!
I’m still going along, and I’m still being both challenged and encouraged by the sessions. Last week’s topic was”Why pray?” and among some things which I took away was advice when praying to remember three simple words
THANKS: SORRY: PLEASE:
As you acknowledge that God truly is God GIVE THANKS:
Acknowledging that we sin all the time, SAY SORRY:
Then turn to your requests, and SAY PLEASE;
The other thing which I’d like to share is a pondering based on a slightly strange picture which came to my mind recently and which followed on after a friend shared several of the I AM’S of the bible as part of a prayer meeting I was at.
So you know those human hamster ball things which, should you be mad enough, you climb into and then you either get pushed down a hill or launched onto a river or lake. (No, I don’t get it either, says the lady who once dyed her hair very green one St.Patrick’s day just because!) Anyway, what I was thinking was how if I choose to center myself in the Fathers I AM’s, and in His promises, then no matter the outside conditions I will be held safe in Him…
And so for the rest of this blog, realising that you may well have a different selection, I like to simply share just a few of my favourite promises from the Father’s love letter and to invite you to climb into the center of His care today.
Hard to pick out from the many to choose from but here we go….
“All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” Psalm 139:16
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will bring it to completion” Philippians 1:6
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
“A bruised reed he will not break, and a smouldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness, he will bring forth justice.” Isaiah 42:3
“I am He. I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you. I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” Isaiah 46:4
“No one will snatch them out of my hand” John 10:28
All of Psalms 23: 121: 139 and 91.
And lastly these wonderful verses from Isaiah 43
“But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”
Hope you have a good, hiding in, being centered and kept safe by Him day today, and in the weeks to come.
Yours in Him,
